Transition has proved a somewhat complex journey, however unlike some people I like to think I have kept fairly level headed about things. Too many people view surgery as the ultimate goal, whereas the acceptance of others in your chosen gender far outweighs this in my opinion. There are very few people who are going to be privy to what is inside my knickers, therefore surgery, in my view is over emphasised. It is merely a bit of plastic surgery to complete the transition.

The feminisation process has been fairly long and at times stressfull. There are days when you look in the mirror and see a man staring back at you and you wonder why you bother, but as the effects of the hormones have taken hold, these days become less frequent.

Although the hormone regime seems to change regularly i am fairly happy with the results. My breasts and hips have developed to a stage where people now ask if I have had a boob job and my facial features have become a lot softer. Laser hair removal, although painful has all but eradicated the need to shave and speech therapy was going fine until I contracted a throat infection!!!! I defy anyone to teach a transexual to cough like a woman!

I actually have a referral for surgery and have had since January of 2001, but a lack of funds and quite frankly a lack of stability in my life meant this is on hold at the moment. I am currently being treated by the National Health Service, however this will take forever, with a referral scheduled for 2003 and surgery possibly as late as 2004. I feel my life needs to move on slightly quicker now.

On the personal front there have been major changes this year, mostly for the good. Having spent almost half of my life in Brighton I have relocated along the coast to Eastbourne for  a far more sedate way of life. On the work front I am working as a Researcher for a magazine and most importantly on the romantic front I have met my soul mate and life partner, Rachel, who not only happens to be one of the coolest and most loving person I have ever met, not only practices the 4 S’s (Sanity, Silliness, Sexiness and Strangeness), a maxim I try to adhere to too, but hey she likes Gerry Anderson, The Cranes and taking the piss out of men too!!! What more could a girl ask for!!!!! (This pic is for you baby, I know you like it!)

So with things in place and the possibility of financing surgery myself, there is a chance that I may get things done next year in America or Thailand. Hopefully!
